CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
- The Dayton Flyers' Varsity 8 turned in the best finish in the program's history at the Head of the Charles Regatta placing in seventh out of 52 participants. The boat came in with an official time of 17:43.284.

Last year the Flyers placed 22nd out of 57 in the event.

Freshman Caitlin Tencate served as the coxswain as seniors Nicki Bianco, Melissa Brandfass, Susan Leopold, Maria Otte, Lisa Pedevillano, and team captain Marcie Shockey joined with freshmen Grace Doepker and Clare Hubbard on the boat.

"We came together as a boat and came home with a finish that exceeded our expectations. Everyone performed exceptionally well when it came down to race time," said Shockey, "Caitlin (Tencate) coxed a great race and handled the difficult course perfectly."

Dayton continues the 2007-08 campaign at the Head of the Iowa Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 28 from Iowa City, Iowa.
