Seniors Kiki Lund and Brittany Holterman each tallied 14 points to lead all scorers at Saturday's annual Red and White scrimmage at UD Arena. The red team won two of three periods in the contest that ended in a 47-47 tie and featured five players in double-figures.

Holterman scored seven points in the opening period to help the red team establish a 17-16 lead. However, freshman Kristin Daugherty, who scored 11 points, sank a pair of three-pointers early in the second period to keep the game close. By the end of two periods, she led all scorers with 11 points, and the white team was within two points, 32-30.

After a roster shake-up, the white team opened the final period with a 5-0 run to take its first lead since the first period, 35-32 with 8:50 remaining. Lund scored eight consecutive points over a four minute stretch to increase the white team's lead to 47-43 with 2:00 remaining.

Senior Nikki Oakland and sophomore Kendel Ross scored the game's final four points for the red team to knot the final score at 47-47.

According to Oakland, many positives can be taken from the scrimmage, including the play of the freshman.

"We have such a great group coming out especially with the incoming freshmen so it's really exciting to be back on the court," Oakland said. "Kristin (Daugherty) did an awesome job out there. Being a freshman you are usually hesitant, but she was letting the ball go and the shots were going right in. She's going to help us a lot this year."

The team will host the Ohio Legends on Saturday, November 3 at UD Arena in an exhibition game that tips off at 4:30 p.m. ET before opening the 2007-08 regular season at home against Northwestern on Friday, November 9.
