Pittsburgh, PA - After winning two matches in a row last weekend, the University of Dayton men's tennis team has dropped consecutive matches to A-10 opponents this week. Friday afternoon's 5-2 loss to Duquesne put the team's overall record at 4-7. The Flyers are 2-2 in Atlantic 10 play thus far.
UD was unable to secure the doubles point for the second straight match, but did pick up two singles wins in the loss.
At third singles, freshman Michael Rohana had a break-through defeating Duquesne's Adam Townsend 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (15). Rohana, who has been playing second and third singles, had been struggling through a six-match losing streak.
Senior co-captain Tom Murphy was a winner as well for the Flyers. Murphy's 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Duquesne's Paul Clough pushed his spring record to 11-0.
The Flyers will continue their weekend road swing with a match against St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for the noon match between the Flyers and the Bonnies.
