The Flyers and Spiders face off on the final day of the regular season with seeding in next weekend's Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship on the line. UD enters the final day of the regular season in the midst of a four-way tie for sixth place in the A-10 standings that includes Sunday's opponent, Richmond, as well as Massachusetts and La Salle. The Flyers lost to UMass (66-58) on Thursday and beat La Salle (59-57) on Feb. 8. Dayton can finish as high as sixth place with a win and losses by both Saint Joseph's and UMass or as low as 10th with a loss and a St. Bonaventure victory on Sunday. The complete bracket for the 12-team Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship will be released on Sunday night at www.atlantic10.org and www.DaytonFlyers.com. The freshmen duo of Kendel Ross and Kelly Keil have shown dramatic improvement for the Flyers during a stretch that has seen UD win two of its last three games. Ross has averaged 10.3 ppg while playing 21.0 mpg off the bench including a season-high 14 points at Rhode Island and 12 points with a season-high five assists against Massachusetts. Keil has averaged a team-high 8.3 rpg during the stretch including a season-high tying nine rebounds in each the last two games.
Dayton is averaging 71.0 ppg as a team over the past three games including 16.0 ppg from Jennifer Strong and 11.0 ppg by Kathy Guin. Strong tallied 18 points each against Rhode Island and Saint Joseph's while Guin tallied 13 points, including the game-winning three-pointer with 1.4 seconds left, against Saint Joseph's last weekend.
