The Dayton Flyer women's golf team opens the spring 2007 season at the Northern Kentucky Invitational in Perry Park, Ky.
After having their original spring opener canceled due to poor weather conditions, this will be the first of five spring events for the Flyers.
Last year, Dayton finished 15th out of 17 teams at the NKU Spring Invitational. Melissa Gaus was the top Flyer performer as she finished tied for 56th place with a combined score of 171 (89-82). Classmate Lindsey Greuter was one shot back with a 17 after carding two consecutive rounds of 86 to tie for 59th place.
In their last outing back in October, the Flyers finished in 12th at the Austin Peay State University Intercollegiate. Leading the way for UD was freshman Katie Dempsey with an 84 in round one and a 79 in the second.
The best team finish for the Flyers in the 2006 fall season came at the Great Smokies Women's Collegiate and the Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational scoring a 325 at each event.
UD and head coach Sally Kosters showcase a young squad. Eight of the 11 players on the Flyer roster are freshmen.
After the NKU Spring Invitational, the Flyers return to the road on Monday, March 26 at the Bellarmine Women's Invitational.
