CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Dayton women's tennis team came up short in a 4-3 loss at Cincinnati to open the spring season on Friday. The Flyers recorded singles victories at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, but could not overcome a strong effort by the Bearcats' doubles teams and top three singles players.

Cincinnati swept the Flyers in doubles to begin the match and capture the opening point. At No.6 singles, sophomore Molly Mathews cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ashley Hale to get UD on the board.

Chelsea Glankler, one of two Flyer freshmen to crack the Dayton line-up, began her collegiate career by holding off Jenny Rowen at No. 4 singles for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win.

Junior Nikki Dzubay tallied Dayton's third point with a win over Abigal Mayo at No. 5 singles.

The Flyers are back in action on Saturday, January 19 at 1 p.m. ET against Ball State in Muncie, IN.
