Dayton, OH – Head Coach Eric Mahone and both the men’s and women’s tennis squads will host an eight team, round-robin tournament at the Dayton Center Courts this weekend.

UD’s women, coming off a 2-1 weekend on the road, will open play against Lipscomb on Friday morning, Feb. 19, at 11:30 a.m. ET. The Lady Bisons, 3-1 this season, are lead by freshman Mackenzie Bishop at the No. 1 singles and doubles spots. Bishop is 4-0 thus far in her collegiate career.

Also participating in the women’s division of the Dayton Invitational are Robert Morris (0-3) and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (3-2). NJIT was picked third in the Great West Conference Preseason Poll.

The Flyers dominated Robert Morris 7-0 last weekend at IPFW. It was the first meeting of the two teams in modern history.
On the men’s court, Dayton’s first match-up will be against Belmont (1-1) on Friday at 3 p.m. ET. New Jersey Institute of Technology and Northern Kentucky complete the tournament’s lineup. All three of these teams are new opponents for the Flyers.

The NJIT men hold an impressive 5-1 record, while the Northern Kentucky Nourse will kick off their spring season in Dayton.

“I am very excited to have both of our teams competing in the same tournament. There is going to be some great competition this weekend and we are looking forward to getting out there and building on the successes we have had so far this year,” commented Coach Mahone.
