Over the previous four seasons, the Class of 2010 has achieved numerous successes in a Dayton Flyer uniform.

The University of Dayton men’s soccer team put together the most successful back-to-back seasons in program history during the 2008 and 2009 campaigns. UD is 29-9-4 in the last two seasons with an A-10 tournament and regular season title, along with an NCAA berth.

For an inside look at the program and behind the scenes access, the Class of 2010 gives their testimonials about their exeperiences as a Flyer.

In this edition Jeff Popella talks about how imperative it is to come into preseason fit. In addition, he mentions how important it is to give everything for the team and coaches. He said one of the things he will miss most is playing on Baujan Field on a Friday night.

The Dayton native played big for the Flyers this year scoring five of his seven goals in conference games, helping UD win the regular season Atlantic 10 Championship. He scored three game winning goals over the season and was a perfect 2-2 in penalty kicks. Popella scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Saint Louis (Nov. 1) and punched in two goals in the decisive game over St. Bonaventure to clinch the regular season title outright.

In his career, Popella played in 61 games for UD, tallying 16 goals and five assists. He was named to the College Soccer News National Team, as well as the Atlantic 10 All Tournament Team.  Along with teammate Randy Dennis, he signed with the Dayton Dutch Lions Football Club.
