KARI DAUGHERTY TRANSFERRING FROM DAYTON

University of Dayton head coach Jim Jabir has announced that sophomore women’s basketball player Kari Daugherty is transferring.

“We were fortunate to have Kari in our program. She has a promising career ahead of her,” said Jabir. “She wanted to be closer to home and this was a personal decision for Kari. We wish her the best.”

Kari Daugherty put up 389 points during her two seasons, averaging 6.0 points and 16.0 minutes per game. She was named an All-Atlantic 10 Rookie Team selection her freshman season. This year, as a sophomore, she was named CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-District.  She is the younger sister of Kristin Daugherty who finished her career this season as UD’s fifth all-time leading scorer.

“It was a very hard decision but I feel like it was the best decision for me,” said Kari Daugherty. “I’m looking at Ashland University right now.”

The Flyers are coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.  Dayton finished as runners-up in the 2011 Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship and had a 21-12 overall record this season.
