NO. 23/22 DAYTON IMPROVES TO 7-0 WITH 95-73 WIN OVER WRIGHT STATE

FAIRBORN, Ohio – The No. 23/22 University of Dayton women's basketball team (7-0) beat the Wright State Raiders (2-3) 95-73 on Wednesday at the Nutter Center. Wednesday's win over the Raiders marks the best start for Dayton since it became a NCAA Division I team in 1984-85.

Dayton was paced by the duo of senior Sam MacKay and sophomore Ally Malott who each had a career-high 20 points against the Raiders. Freshman  Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova had 15 points and led the team with eight rebounds. Junior Cassie Sant and sophomore Andrea Hoover also scored in double figures adding 12 points for UD. Hoover, Malott and Olivia Applewhite each added seven rebounds. The Flyers added 29 points off of the bench in the win.

UD held a 58-46 advantage on the boards (the seventh time this season UD has won that battle), and scored 19 of its points on second chance opportunities.

From the opening tip the Flyers never trailed and took a 26-point lead, 53-27, into half time against Wright State.

The Raiders came within 10 points of the Flyers in the second half. Excellent three-point shooting, led by nine of MacKay's 12 second-half points helped UD extend its lead back to 25 for the 95-73 win.

Dayton returns to action against UNLV in the ASU Classic in Tempe, Ariz. on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. ET.
