FORT MYERS, Fla. – With two fall tournaments in the books, the Dayton Flyers men’s golfers head down to the Sunshine State to compete in the 2012 Cobra-PUMA Invitational.
After finishing in last at the Marshall Invitational, UD bounced back to place in eighth at the Cardinal Classic.
This season the Flyers have been buoyed by two of their seniors,
Sean Keating and
Matt Buse. Both lead the team in total rounds played with six and are the top two in stroke average.
Keating leads Dayton with a 72.2 stroke average, while Buse is close behind at 73.0. Both Flyers have not shot above a 74 this season.
In the tournament, UD will face Arkansas State, Bethune Cookman, Dayton, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgetown, Jacksonville, Loyola of Maryland, Marshall, Northern Kentucky, Penn State, St. Joseph’s, William and Mary, Wofford and host Xavier.
The Cobra-PUMA Invitational is a 54-hole stroke-play event with 36 holes to be played on Sunday, Sept. 30 and 18 holes to be played on Monday, Oct. 1. Pairings for the final round will be based off of the team’s 36-hole score.
Miromar Lakes is a par-72 championship golf course that provides a premier golfing experience. Designed by master architect, Arthur Hills, it is his only “Signature” course in Southwest Florida.
