WOMEN'S SOCCER POSTS FIFTH CONSECUTIVE SHUTOUT

Senior Stephanie Emery Scored Her Fourth Game-Winning Goal In The Win Over UMass

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Dayton women's soccer team continued its defensive dominance with a 1-0 victory against Massachusetts Friday at Rudd Field. The Flyers improve to 8-4-1 overall and stay atop the Atlantic 10 standings at 3-0-0. UMass drops to 5-6-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the A-10. With the win, the Flyers reached the 400-victory milestone.
 
Dayton posted its fifth consecutive shutout and has outscored opponents 13-0 in those matches. Freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth James had three saves to earn the shutout.
 
After the first 45 minutes of action the Flyers and Minutewomen were tied at 0-0.

Senior Stephanie Emery scored the only goal of the match and put the Flyers on the board in the 54th minute. She scored her sixth goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Nicole Waters, marking her sixth of the season as well. Of Emery's six goals, four have been game winners.

UMass outshot the Flyers 13-12, but UD had more shots on frame, winning that battle 5-3.

The Flyers travel to Rhode Island for an A-10 match Sunday, Oct. 13 with a 12:30 p.m. kickoff.
