MADISON, Wis. - The University of Dayton men's cross country team finished in 21st place out of 31 teams at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional 10K race in Madison, Wis. on Friday, Nov. 15. 

The team finished with a total score of 594, with their top runner being senior Eric Gruenbacher, who finished with a time of 32:48, surpassing his personal best in last year's race by almost 35 seconds.

"Eric Gruenbacher completed his cross country eligibility by doing what he do all throughout his senior year; leading the team by example as captain," said UD Head Coach Rich Davis.

Fellow senior Tyler Roeth followed closely behind Gruenbacher with a time of 32:59, also earning a personal best from last years race by more than a minute.

"Eric Gruenbacher and Tyler Roeth each earned "Top 25 All-Time 10Km Cross Country Times" in their final cross country race in the Flyer uniform," said Davis.

Rounding out the day for the Flyers were a trio of freshman, with Michael Tymoski finishing  with a time of 33:11, Josh Zemet with a time of 33:39, and Ethan Louis finishing in a time of 33:59.

"It was disappointing not to finish closer to the top-15 Regionally ranked teams than 21st place," said Davis. "However, it is promising to work towards returning to the 2014 Great Lakes Regional with four men who earned valuable championship-quality experience in their freshmen season."
