DAYTON SOCCER PROGRAMS RECEIVE NSCAA ACADEMIC HONORS

KANSAS CITY – The University of Dayton men's and women's soccer programs have been selected to receive the 2012-13 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award.

The award is given by the NSCAA to teams which earn a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2012-13 academic year.

UD was one 182 schools that had both their men's and women's programs recognized. Only four other schools in the Atlantic 10 had both their men's and women's programs earn the award.

Dayton's women's program earned a team grade point average of 3.42, while the men's program produced a 3.26 team grade point average during the 2012-13 academic year.

This is the eighth straight year the men's program has been recognized by the NSCAA with the Team Academic Award. The women's program has never had a team grade point average below 3.0 during head coach Mike Tucker's tenure at UD.

Both programs have finished their seasons, with the men's team earning a 14-3-2 record, including a conference record of 4-2-2. The women's team finished with an overall record of 14-5-2 and a conference record of 7-1-0.
