#11/11 FLYERS CRUISE TO A-10 SEMIFINAL

PHILADELPHIA – #11/11 University of Dayton got one step closer to defending its title with a 74-49 win over George Washington Saturday at Hagan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph's in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Buick Atlantic 10 Championship.

The Flyers improve to 27-1 overall while the Colonials finish the season at 14-16.

Sophomore Andrea Hoover led UD's balanced attack with a game-high 15 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Kelley Austria scored 13 points, with 10 of those coming in the second half. Senior Sam MacKay tacked on 12 points and five assists.

UD's defense held George Washington to 32.2 percent shooting from the field (19-of-59). The Flyer defense also had a season-high 11 blocked shots, which is second all-time in A-10 Championship history (only behind West Virginia's 13 set in 1985 against Umass). Freshman Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova led the way with a career-high five swats and junior Cassie Sant also had a career-high three blocked shots.

The Flyers shot a scorching 60 percent from the field in the first period (18-of-30), paced by Hoover's 12 points. The first team all-conference performer almost had a double-double after the first 20 minutes of play, also grabbing eight rebounds.

UD led 43-21 at the half and never looked back. For the 13th time this season the Flyers held their opponent under 21 points in a half. Dayton also held the Colonials  without a made three-point field goal in the first half.

Dayton led by as many as 31 points on Amber Deane's layup at the 1:53 mark that put the Flyers up 74-43.

UD faces the winner of the No. 4 seed Saint Joseph's vs. No. 5 seed Duquesne game in the semifinals Sunday, March 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hawks' Hagan Arena. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
