RED-BLUE SCRIMMAGE ENDS IN 2-2 TIE FOR VOLLEYBALL

Campbell and Loiars Post Double-Digit Kills

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team played four sets Saturday night in its annual Red-Blue Scrimmage, with each of the squads picking up two sets (21-25, 25-16, 29-27, 11-15). Sophomore Jill Loiars recorded a team-high 12 kills on the night as the Flyers continued to prepare for their season opener set for Aug. 30 against Tulsa.

Dayton, ranked No. 22 in AVCA's preseason poll, split its team into two squads playing three sets to 25 followed by a fourth set to 15. Freshmen Rachel Fortner and Aubreigh Applegate each tallied double-doubles for the match as Fortner recorded 31 assists and 12 digs while Applegate had 19 digs to go with 10 assists for the Blue Team.

On the Red Team, Loiars collected 12 kills on 21 attempts while senior Megan Campbell  had 10 kills and was one of three Flyers with five assisted blocks for Red. Sophomore Jenna Jendryk set 35 assists and sophomore Janna Krakfa got under 29 digs in the contest.

The Flyers will open the 2013 regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 against Tulsa at 7 p.m. in the Dayton Invitational to be held at Frericks Center. Click here for complete schedule information.
