CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's cross country team controlled every aspect of the meet on Saturday as the Flyers took first place at the Friendship Invitational.
Dayton had nine runners finish in the top 11 including the top four spots. Overall, the Flyers finished with 16 points and an average time of 22:40.03 in the 6K event.
Tiffin trailed the Flyers in second place with 94 points, followed by Cleveland State, Wright State, and the Cumberlands.
Leading the way for Dayton were senior
Lizzie Gleason (22:15.57), senior
Nicole Cargill (22:22.92), junior Kate Ollier (22:38.27), and junior
Nicole Armstrong (22:52.10). Those four finished in the top four spots on the day. Close behind the first pack were sophomore
Mickey Ludlow (23:10.79) in 7th, junior
Mary List (23:16.30) in 8th, sophomore
Olivia Albers (23:16.54) in 9th, junior
Lauren Clark (23:17.44) in 10th, and junior
Megan Collins (23:25.54) in 11th. Freshman
Kathleen Keene finished 13th (23:38.72) while
Bridget McElhenny finished 26th (24:30.08).

Sarah Haveman was proud of her team's performance on Saturday.
"We had a solid day today," Haveman stated. "The goal was to put a solid effort out on a championship course and that's what the women did. This meet will help propel us into the key part of the season."
The Flyers will have some time off before returning to E. King Course in Cedarville for the All-Ohio Championships on Oct. 4.
