WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FEATURED IN FIVE NATIONAL TV GAMES

Dayton's Five Nationally-Televised Games Is A Program Record For Regular Season Games

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –
The University of Dayton women's basketball team will be featured in a program-record five nationally-televised conference games, including three broadcasts from UD Arena.   This was revealed when the Atlantic 10 Conference released its 2014 women's basketball schedule today.  The league's 13 teams will play a 16 game A-10 schedule, consisting of eight home games and eight away games.  The schedule allows teams to face each conference opponent once and four teams twice. 

"Through our three A-10 media partners, ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBCSN, we have an extended television platform for some of our most storied A-10 rivalries and nationally competitive programs," said Wendy S. Larry, Atlantic 10 Associate Commissioner.  "Our women's basketball schedule will be highlighted by some of our best matchups and culminate with our Championship at the Richmond Coliseum. "

The defending A-10 regular season champion Flyers open conference play at Saint Louis on Sunday, Jan. 5 on NBC Sports Network. The Flyers' three home nationally-televised games are: Jan. 16 vs. George Washington on CBS Sports Network, Jan. 19 vs. Fordham on ESPNU, and Feb. 23 vs. Saint Joseph's on ESPNU. Dayton also plays at Saint Joseph's Jan. 26 on NBC Sports Network.

Dayton's home schedule features: St. Bonaventure (Jan.11), George Washington (Jan. 16 on CBSSN), Fordham (Jan. 19 on ESPNU), George Mason (Feb. 1), VCU (Feb. 5), Richmond (Feb. 15), Saint Joseph's (Feb. 23 on ESPNU) and Saint Louis (Feb. 26).

The road contests include: Saint Louis (Jan. 5 on NBCSN), George Mason (Jan. 8), Massachusetts (Jan. 22), Saint Joseph's (Jan. 26 on NBCSN), Duquesne (Feb. 8), Rhode Island (Feb. 12), La Salle (Feb. 19) and George Washington (March 1).

All 13 teams will take part in the championship which will take place March 5-9 in Richmond, Va.   The championship will open with a play-in game on Wednesday, March 5, followed by four first-round games on Thursday.  The four quarterfinal games will tip off Friday afternoon. Game times for both Thursday and Friday are Noon, 2:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Two semifinal games will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and will air live on CBSSN, with the finals tipping off at 11 a.m. on Sunday live on ESPNU.

UD returns four starters and eight letterwinners from last year's 28-3 team that was ranked 16th in the final coaches' poll and 18th nationally by AP.  Among the returnees are sophomore All-Atlantic 10 performers Andrea Hoover and Ally Malott, along with A-10 All-Rookie selections Amber Deane and Kelly Austria.  Hoover, a first team all-conference pick, was Dayton's top scorer (12.9 ppg.).  The incoming freshman class is ranked No. 20 in the nation by All-Star Girls Report, the highest ranking ever for the UD women's basketball program.
