DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to open Atlantic 10 Conference play Friday evening against Virginia Commonwealth at UD's Frericks Center. First serve between the Flyers and Rams is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free. UD will also play host to Saint Louis on Sunday - match time is set for 4 p.m.
ABOUT THE FLYERS
Dayton (6-6) went 2-1 over the weekend, serving as host of the 2013 Flyer Classic. UD picked up wins over Western Michigan (3-1) and Wright State (3-0) while falling to Western Kentucky (3-1). Senior
Megan Campbell and sophomore
Jenna Jendryk earned all-tournament team honors for their play in the Flyers' final tournament of the season. Averaging 2.90 blocks/set, UD currently leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks ninth nationally in that category.
Campbell is the team's offensive leader, averaging 2.88 kills/set while hitting at a .349 clip (2nd A-10). She also serves up a team-best 0.26 aces/set and records 1.12 blocks per frame (7th A-10). Jendryk is the squad's floor general, setting 8.59 assists per game (6th A-10) and sophomore
Janna Krafka gets under 4.44 digs/set (3rd A-10) as the team's leading passer. At the net, three Flyers are averaging more than one block per set, including team-leader junior
Isolde Hannan at 1.32 (3rd A-10).
SCOUTING VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH
Virginia Commonwealth (10-4, 0-0 A-10) is coming off a 1-2 weekend at the N.C. State Invitational, dropping a 3-2 decision to Wisconsin and a 3-1 loss to host N.C. State on Sept. 21. In its weekend opener, VCU defeated Colgate in five, 3-2. As a team, the Rams lead the league in opponent hitting percentage (.161) and rank second in hitting percentage (.214) and service aces (1.52/set).
Romana Kriskova leads VCU with 4.86 kills/set (1st A-10) and a .284 hitting percentage (5th A-10). Cecilia Aragao sets 9.62 assists per frame (3rd A-10) and Janelle Sykes is the team's leading blocker with 1.38 blocks/set (2nd A-10).
SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
Saint Louis (4-9, 0-0 A-10) dropped back-to-back matches last weekend, including a 3-1 loss to Kansas State and a 3-0 loss at Arkansas on Sept. 21. The Billikens will open Atlantic 10 play on Friday at Duquesne before traveling to Dayton to square off against the Flyers on Sunday. SLU leads the league with a .217 hitting percentage and 12.61 assists/set. The Billikens' 13.37 kills/set and 15.07 digs per frame ranks second in the A-10.
Mallory Dillon is SLU's leading attacker, averaging 4.24 kills/set (2nd A-10) while Meredith Boe's 9.00 assists/set (5th A-10) is best on the team. Megan Gilbert is the squad's leading blocker with 1.11 stuffs per game (8th A-10) and Anna Church passes a team-best 4.33 digs/set (4th A-10).

CAMPBELL, JENDRYK EARN FLYER CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT NODS
For the second time this season, senior
Megan Campbell earned all-tournament team honors following her play during the 2013 Flyer Classic. Campbell averaged 3.55 kills/set and posted a .405 (39-5-84) hitting percentage for the weekend. She tallied a career-high 19 kills while committing no errors in 35 attempts (.543) to lead Dayton Saturday against Western Michigan. Sophomore
Jenna Jendryk also picked up an all-tournament team nod, her first for the season and of her career. She averaged 1.82 digs/set, 0.82 blocks/set and paced the team with 0.45 service aces/set. The primary setter, Jendryk also led the team with 10 assists per frame over the weekend, including a career-high-tying 48 to go with 12 digs for the Flyers' only double-double of the contest.
WE WILL PROTECT THIS NET
In the Flyers' five-set thriller over Saint Mary's (Calif.) on Sept. 14, the team set a new program record for blocks in a match with 22.5 total team blocks. Also a new school record was the 41 assisted blocks the Flyers' tallied in the 3-2 win over the Gaels. Sophomore

Jenna Jendryk narrowly missed the elusive triple-double with her career-high 48 assists, 12 digs and nine blocks as well.
As a team, the Flyers lead the Atlantic 10 Conference and rank ninth nationally averaging 2.90 blocks/set. Junior
Isolde Hannan is the team leader in blocks with 1.32 per game (3rd A-10) while Agu averages 1.19 and Campbell tallies 1.12 blocks/set.
CAMPBELL FINALIST FOR SENIOR CLASS AWARD

Megan Campbell has been named to the list of 30 finalists for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
DOMINANT AT HOME
Dayton has won 33-straight home Atlantic 10 matches dating back to 2008. The last time the Flyers dropped a conference match at Frericks Center was against Saint Louis 3-2 on Nov. 15, 2008.
IN A-10 OPENERS
The Flyers are 15-3 all-time in Atlantic 10 Conference opening matches, including 10-1 in league openers at home. The last (and only) time Dayton has lost its A-10 opener at home was a 3-2 loss to visiting Charlotte on Sept. 23, 2005.
UD PICKED TO WIN THE A-10 CROWN
The defending Atlantic 10 conference volleyball champion Flyers have been unanimously selected as the 2013 Atlantic 10 preseason favorite in a vote conducted among the league's nine head coaches. The Flyers (27-5, 14-0 Atlantic 10) won both the 2012 regular season and the A-10 Championship, their fourth-straight title and fifth in the last six years. The Flyers garnered all nine first-place votes for a point total of 81 in the poll. This was the fourth consecutive year Dayton was picked to finish first in the conference's preseason poll.
