DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team faltered 3-2 (25-15, 25-23, 18-25, 21-25, 12-15) to the visiting Saint Louis Billikens Sunday evening at Frericks Center in Atlantic 10 Conference action. With the loss, Dayton moves to 6-8 overall and 0-2 in league action while Saint Louis improves to 5-10 on the season and 1-1 in A-10 play.

For the Flyers, junior Isolde Hannan tallied 12 kills and hit at a .409 clip to lead the team. Senior Megan Campbell recorded a career-high 11 blocks at the net, narrowly missing the double-double with nine kills. Sophomore Jenna Jendryk set 40 assists and sophomore Janna Krafka passed 25 digs.

The Billikens tallied 62 kills to the Flyers' 50 and both teams struggled from the service line committing 13 service errors apiece.

Saint Louis jumped out to the 5-2 lead in the opening set but Dayton even the game up at six points apiece. A Billiken attack error set the score at 10-9 in favor of the Flyers and UD never trailed again in the frame. A 7-2 Flyer run opened the set up for UD pushing the score to 17-11. Dayton's advantage was seven, 20-13, and the Flyers rattled off five-straight points to close out the set with the 25-15 win.

The second set was more balanced but back-to-back Billiken attack erros gave the Flyers a two-point lead, 7-5. After falling behind by three, 11-8, Dayton rallied with a 7-2 run to take back the advantage, 15-13. Five ties later the set was even at 23-all but senior Shayne Brown's kill set up set point and a Billiken attack error gave the Flyers the 25-23 set-two win to take the 2-0 match lead.

A 7-0 run for Saint Louis gave the Billikens a 12-4 lead in the third set and SLU never looked back. Dayton's mid-set 4-0 run pulled the Flyers to within five, 19-14, but Saint Louis reached set point at 24-17. UD saved set point with a kill from sophomore Alaina Turner but SLU sealed the third-set win, 25-18, after a Flyer attack error.

The equalizing set was close from start to finish as neither team was able to score more than two points in a row through most of the frame. A kill from Turner followed by a Billiken attack error set the game at 8-6 in favor of the Flyers but the lead shifted after a kill from Mallory Dillon gave SLU the 10-9 lead. The game was tied at 13-13 and again at 14-all but SLU scored two straight to retake the lead. Despite saving set-point twice late in the game, the Flyers could not overcome the Billikens, dropping set three, 25-21.

In the deciding set, back-to-back Billiken kills gave Saint Louis the 5-2 lead early on. The SLU lead was cut to one, 9-8, and UD evened the game at 10 on a Brown service ace but Saint Louis reached match-point at 14-11 on its own ace. With a Mallory Dillon kill, SLU sealed the 15-12 fifth-set win and claimed the 3-2 match win.

The Billikens were led by Dillon with a match-high 17 kills while Meredith Boe posted the 52 assist-16 dig double-double.

The Flyers return to action next weekend with two road Atlantic 10 Conference matches, kicking off at La Salle Friday at 7 p.m.
