Final Results
MASON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's cross country team competed in its second event of the fall season on Friday and took home second place at the Queen City Invitational.
"Overall, we had a very strong showing," said head coach
Sarah Haveman. "We just need a little bit more from every member of this team. We are moving in the right direction and I am pleased with the racing they showed today at this point in the season."
The Flyers had four top 10 finishers and seven top 15 finishers. Leading the way for Dayton was
Nicole Cargill (17:38.2), who finished second overall, and
Lizzie Gleason (18:00.94) who finished sixth overall.Â
Katie Ollier (18:18.33) and
Mary List (18:20.36) also recorded top 10 finishes for UD.
The other runners that competed for the Flyers were 11th-place
Nicole Armstrong (18:21.37), 13th-place
Mickey Ludlow (18:32.10), and 15th-place
Kathleen Keene (18:44.92). Also competing, but not counting towards the top seven times were
Lauren Clark (18:46.70),
Megan Collins (19:06.32), and
Bridget McElhenny (19:28.36).
Xavier finished first overall as a team, just nudging out Dayton by 10 points. Indianapolis, Northern Kentucky, and Cincinnati trailed UD. The Flyers posted an average time of 18:07.96 in the 5K race.
Dayton will next compete on Sept. 21 at the Friendship Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio.
