DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton Division of Athletics unveiled the Dr. Stephen B. Levitt Wall of Recognition today prior to the Flyer home men's basketball game vs. UIC. Dr. Levitt got a sneak peek of the wall Friday along with members of the UD men's basketball team.
 
"I am very appreciative and humbled by the University's naming the Wall of Recognition after me," said Dr. Levitt. "I will try to continue to live up to such an honor and continue to show my true love and appreciation to the UD athletic department, and men's and women's basketball teams in particular."
 
The Levitt Wall of Recognition, located prominently on the south concourse of the University of Dayton Arena, honors UD's most generous benefactors. It's named in honor of Dr. Levitt, whose financial leadership has supported the men's and women's basketball programs, construction of facilities and other needs for a first-rate student-athlete experience.
 
"Dr. Levitt has supported the University of Dayton Division of Athletics for more than three decades," said UD Vice President/Director of Athletics Tim Wabler. "His leadership, friendship and generosity serve as an example to Flyer fans everywhere. A true Flyer, Steve's humble approach and willingness to lead by example will always be remembered."
 
An ardent fan and longtime season ticket holder, Dr. Levitt has always taken enormous pride and interest in the players and coaches at the University of Dayton – and has particularly enjoyed sharing his appreciation and deep knowledge of past Flyer players, coaches, and history with current coaches, players, and fans.
 
For years, he has graciously opened his home to host thousands of fans for an annual picnic that celebrates Dayton Flyer basketball. Wabler made the announcement at Dr. Levitt's 25th annual picnic on Sept. 7, 2014 that the Dr. Levitt Wall of Recognition would be created for the 2014-15 basketball season.
 
The Levitt Wall of Recognition includes names of the numerous alumni, fans and friends who have financially supported Dayton throughout their lifetime. As individuals reach the $100,000 giving milestone, their names will be added to the wall.
 
Dr. Levitt founded Dermatologists of Southwest Ohio in 1978. He is a member of many professional medical organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, Dayton Society of Internal Medicine, Montgomery County Medical Society, Ohio Dermatological Association, Ohio Society for Dermatologic Surgery and Ohio State Medical Association.
