Live Video/Stats LinksDAYTON, Ohio - In its only exhibition of the 2014-15 season, the University of Dayton women's basketball team is set to play host to Eckerd College Friday night at UD Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free. All who bring two non-perishable food items to be donated to St. Vincent de Paul will receive a $2 ticket voucher for a future women's game (limit one per person).
Flyer Facts» Undefeated at home the past two seasons, Dayton's 26-straight home victories is the second-longest active streak in the nation. The Flyers went 12-0 at home during 2013-14.
» Head coach
Jim Jabir is in his 12th season at the helm of the Dayton women's team in 2014-15. He was named the eighth head coach, and first male, in the history of the program on April 8, 2003. Jabir holds a career record of 430-356 over 28 seasons.
» Dayton has been ranked or receiving votes in at least one major poll (Associated Press Top 25 or USA Today Coaches') for 40 consecutive weeks. The Flyers open the 2014-15 season ranked No. 22 in both major polls.

About the FlyersDayton women's basketball ended 2013-14 with a 23-8 overall record for the program's seventh-consecutive season with 20+ wins. The Flyers won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title with a 14-2 mark in league action and advanced to the finals of the A-10 Championship. With its game against Florida on March 23, Dayton made its fifth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Dayton lost only one player to graduation last year and returns the 2014 A-10 Player of the Year

Scouting EckerdEckerd College wrapped up the 2013-14 season with an 11-15 overall record and were picked to finish seventh in the Sunshine State Conference standings for 2014-15. The Tritons welcome back three seniors who were top performers for the team last season. Rana Thomas is the top returning scorer after averaging 10.8 ppg. last season and also led the team in three-pointers made with 1.4 per game. Kayla Bowling hit 75 percent from the foul line a year ago while Ivana Grbic controlled the boards for the Tritons last season pulling down 197 rebounds (7.3 per game).
Series StuffFriday's exhibition game will be the first meeting between Eckerd and Dayton.
Atlantic 10 Preseason PollDayton was unanimously picked to win the 2014-15 Atlantic 10 Conference title. The Flyers earned all 14 first-place votes among picks from the conference's head coaches. Four Dayton players were also recognized on Preseason All-Conference Teams, including seniors
Andrea Hoover and
Ally Malott who were named to the First Team. Junior
Amber Deane earned mention on the Second Team while sophomore
Celeste Edwards was named to both the Third and All-Defensive Teams.
Atlantic 10 FormatDespite its name, the Atlantic 10 conference consists of 14 member schools competing under one division in women's basketball. Each team will play a 16-game conference slate this coming season, including three home-and-away series. Dayton will play two games against George Washington, Richmond and Saint Louis and one against the remaining field during league action. The conference most recently welcomed Davidson and this will be the first year the Flyers will square off against the Wildcats in program history.
We'll Take the Free OnesAs a team, the Flyers shot 76.4 percent from the free throw line in 2013-14, the BEST team free throw percentage in Dayton history. The 76.4 percent ranked second in the Atlantic 10 and 14th nationally. Then-junior
Andrea Hoover led the Flyers from the line with a 93.6 percentage (1st A-10, 3rd NCAA).

Flyers in League PlayDayton has won 40 of its last 44 regular season Atlantic 10 games, a streak that dates back to a 97-46 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 2012, including posting a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play during the 2012-13 season. Of its four losses over the previous three seasons, Dayton took two L's at home and two on the road.
