DAYTON PUTS ON DEFENSIVE EXHIBITION IN 93-18 WIN OVER ECKERD

Four Flyers Score Double Figures In Romp

DAYTON, Ohio - The 22nd-ranked University of Dayton women's basketball team opened the 2014-15 campaign with a 93-18 exhibition win over Division II Eckerd College Friday night at UD Arena.

Four Flyers scored in double figures with senior Ally Malott leading all scorers 18 points and four steals and freshman Celeste Edwards added 15 points. Joining Mallott and Edwards in double-figures scoring were sophomore Saicha Grant-Allen (11 points) and junior Amber Deane (10).

The Flyers put on an offensive display, shooting 49.3% from the field to go with 14 steals that led to transition baskets. It was a different story for the Titans as they turned the ball over 32 times. Dayton also held the advantage on the boards out-rebounding Eckerd, 53-28.

Dayton opens the regular season next Friday, November 14th in Pullman, Washington, as the Flyers take on the Washington State Wildcats. TIp-off is set for 10 p.m. EST.
