DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers came out on top 63-61 in a defensive battle over the Purdue Boilermakers to improve their record to 4-3 on the season. With the win Dayton extended its home-game winning streak -
the longest in the nation in NCAA Division I Women's Basketball
 - to 28 consecutive.
Seniors
Ally Malott and
Andrea Hoover led the way for UD with 20 points each. Â Defensively, junior
Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova set her career high in blocks with six, and tied her season high in rebounds with 10.
As a team the Flyers shot 38.6 (22-57) percent from the field and 21.4 (3-14) percent from three-point range. Â They were out rebounded 51-41, but protected the rim, out-blocking Purdue 7-2.
In the first half, Dayton held a steady lead throughout, taking a 36-26 lead into the locker room. Â Malott led the team in first half points with 14, and Corneile-Sigmundova tied her career high in blocks with five.
Purdue battled back in what was a physical second half. Â Dayton was in the double bonus over halfway through the period. Â Purdue had the lead down to one twice, including with just under a minute left to play.
Dayton held steady on the defensive side, while Purdue missed their final four shots and UD held on to the two-point victory. Â Hoover led the Flyers in the second half with 12 points.
The Boilermakers were guided by Whitney Bays and Bridget Perry, who finished with 19 and 15 points, respectively.
Dayton will be back at UD Arena for game two of a three-game homestead on Wednesday, Dec. 10 as they take on the Toledo Rockets. Â Game time is set for 11 a.m. for School Day.
