Complete ResultsSOUTHPORT, N.C. - The University of Dayton women's golf team wrapped up its 2013-14 season at the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Championship Sunday afternoon with a seventh-place finish. As a team, the Flyers posted rounds of 328 and 342 for a total of 670 for the tournament. First-year CAA member College of Charleston captured the crown with its rounds of 302-316=618. UD seniors
Grace Nikolai and
Erin Peavy were the team's top finishers, posting identical scores of 83-84=167 to finished tied for 16th place.
CofC's Laura Fuenfstueck took medalist honors for the championship, turning in rounds of 72 ad 76 for a four-over-par total of 148. The tournament's originally scheduled second round was rained out Saturday and this was the first time the CAA Championship had been shortened due to a rain out.
"I am very proud of how well we played in terrible weather conditions," commented head coach
Sally Kosters following Sunday's final round. "After three days of rain, the course was saturated. Today the rain was driving sideways and the 30 mph winds made carrying umbrellas impossible. It is tough to mentally stay in the game when you are thinking about how soon you want it to be over. The scores were high for the entire field but we managed the conditions well."
Junior
Lucy Frey was the Flyers' third-best finisher at 168 (+24) after carding rounds of 83 and 85 to finish in a tie for 29th overall while senior
