AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Dayton softball team suffered two Atlantic 10 Conference losses at Massachusetts Saturday afternoon, falling to the Minutewomen 9-4 and 5-2. Senior Alysha Isaacson continues to shine offensively with a 5-for-7 day at the plate with a double, a home run and two RBI.

Isaacson was one of three Flyers with long balls on the day as senior Jordan Jennings and junior Tiffany Ricks each knocked one out of the park.

GAME ONE: Massachusetts 9, Dayton 4 | Box Score (PDF)
Dayton (14-21, 2-6 A-10) took the early 2-0 lead over Massachusetts (7-14, 2-2 A-10) as Isaacson singled in senior Rachel Archer in the third and Jennings tallied a solo home run in the fourth. The Minutewomen exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fourth, taking advantage of four walks and Aston Wince knocked out two-out a grand slam. Ricks recorded her seventh home run of the season in the fifth to cut the UMass lead to three, 6-3, but UM brought in three more in the bottom of the frame with a single, a double and a two-run homer.

Senior Kasi Vazquez doubled in Archer in the sixth but that would end the late-game rally for Dayton as Massachusetts took the 9-4 win.

Junior Kayla English (9-9) was charged with the loss in the circle for the Flyers after throwing five innings. She struck out two batters to five walks and gave up nine earned runs on five hits while also recording three wild pitches. Sophomore Emily Froment closed out the game for UD, tossing the final inning of the game.

Caroline Raymond (4-7) claimed the win for the Minutewomen after working a complete game. She struck out three to seven walks while giving up four earned runs on eight hits.

GAME TWO: Massachusetts 5, Dayton 2 | Box Score (PDF)
Despite taking the 1-0 lead on Isaacson' solo homer in the top of the fourth, Dayton allowed five runs in the bottom of the inning which would prove to be too much to overcome. The Flyers would get one more run in the fifth as freshman Cynthia Leaton was able to cross home with a bases-loaded fielder's choice. UMass held on for the 5-2 win.

Freshman Gabrielle Snyder (5-6) took the loss for UD in the second game, throwing 3.2 innings in the circle. She struck out two batters to zero walks and gave up four earned runs on eight hits. Froment again closed out the game for the Flyers, working the final 2.1 innings, striking out one and allowing one hit.

Tara Klee (2-4) earned the win for UMass, also throwing a complete game for Massachusetts. She struck out five to eight walks while giving up two earned runs on five hits.

The Flyers return to action Wednesday, April 9 when the team travels to Toledo, Ohio, to take on the Rockets for a doubleheader. First pitch between Dayton and Toledo is set for 3 p.m. at UT's Scott Park Softball Complex.
