Final Results
CHARLESTON, Ill. – The University of Dayton women's track and field team finished the 2014 EIU Big Blue Classic
Saturday.
The Flyers had 64.50 points in the meet, finishing sixth overall out of 10 teams. Indiana State had 136 points to take first place, followed by Western Michigan, Southern Illinois, and Eastern Illinois.
"Overall this was a successful weekend for us," said head coach
Jason Francis. "The women really capitalized on their opportunities.Our distance women are competing at a high level right now."
Nicole Cargill set a new personal record and a Top 5 all-time mark at Dayton with a first-place finish in the 1500m, posting a time of 4:32.86 and picking up 10 points for UD.
Katie Ollier also had a strong finish and a PR in the race with a time of 4:37.93 and a fifth-place showing while
Olivia Albers took 10
th with a time of 4:41.66. Ollier earned the Flyers eight points and Albers earned four points. Reynolds took 29
th in the event as well with a time of 4:56.34.
The Dayton "A" 4x100m relay team finished seventh with a time of 47.76. The squad, comprised of
Cassie Grandstaff,
Noelle Tazioli,
Maya Pedersen, and
Ashley DeMange earned Dayton five points.
In the 400m dash,
Kassy Thomas finishing 13
th overall, while
Mariah Curtis finishing 20
th.
Dayton had three performers in the 100m dash as Pedersen finished 12
th, Grandstaff finished 16
th, and Tazioli finished 19
th. Cargill also competed in the 800m run and took 14
th with a time of 2:15.95.
Chelsea VanHook finished 19
th with a 2:19.15 performance while
Olivia Albers and
Maggie Pryslak also ran in the event.
Pedersen earned Dayton points in the 200m dash with a personal best time of 25.21, picking up an eighth-place finish. Tazioli wasn't far behind and picked up a point and a 12
th-place finish. Grandstaff took 18
th as well.
In the 4x400m relay event, the Dayton "A" team finished ninth with a time of 3:57.52. Curtis, Pedersen, Thomas, and VanHook competed for the Flyers and added three points to UD's total.
In the javelin, Julie Kolodziej finished eighth.
Katy Garcia was not far behind in 11
th while
Rebecca Maj finished 12
th and set a personal best.
Juliana Lawniczak took eighth-place in the high jump, earning two points for the Flyers.
In the pole vault,
Ashley DeMange and
Hanna Krizmanic tied for seventh with 3.75m performances, splitting nine points for Dayton. That tied a personal best for DeMange and was a new high mark for Krizmanic.
Sarah Gaskell hit 3.45m and finished 18
th overall.
Garcia also finished 15
th in the long jump while Maj took 17
th.
Maddi Schmidt took fifth-place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.60m, recording another five points for the Flyer cause.
The Flyers return to action next weekend at the All-Ohio Championships in Cincinnati.
