UD cut it to 9-6 on a William Will 47-yard field goal on the next possession.

Duquesne then used two long scoring plays with their offense on the sideline to score the other 14 points of the half.  Malik Shegog intercepted a Will Bardo pass and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown for a 16-6 DU advantage. The Dukes then forced the Flyers to punt and Devin Rahming returned the kick a Duquesne record 84 yards for a touchdown.

UD took the second half kickoff, and with redshirt freshman Blake Bir at the controls, drove 75 yards in 10 plays. Connor Kacsor ran it in from seven yards out to make the score 23-13.  But the Duke offense got into the big play act early with its third 50-plus yard play of the day as Dillon Buechel connected with Noel Oduho for a 58-yard touchdown.

DU's Austin Crimmins ended the games scoring with 6:15 remaining in the third quarter with a 33-yard field goal.

Kacsor was the game's top ground gainer with 20 carries for 84 yards and UD's only TD.  Flyer linebacker Christopher Beaschler led Dayton in tackles for the second straight week with 10, including six solo.  Cornerback Cameron Stubbs had an interception and a pass breakup, and Zach Elias recovered a fumble.
