WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Dayton rowing team closed out action at the George Washington Invitational Saturday on the Potomac River.
 
In the morning: UD's V4+ defeated Georgetown in a head-to-head race after posting a time of 7:54.8 compared to the Hoya's time of 8:03.4. The Flyers' boat included: Meghan Garriott (coxswain), Amanda Matney, Eden Williams, Anna Karnstein and Danielle Foust. 
 
Georgetown claimed the next race in the 2V8+ with a time of 6:48.8, while UD posted a time of 7:25.7. Dayton's 2V8+ consisted of Patricia Santoni (coxswain) Becca McDonald, Grace Hagan, Sarah Byrd, Katy Speed, Rachel Hock, Kristen Hackel, Chloe Hollinden, Breezy Hollandsworth.
 
 
Dayton's V8+ boat claimed a victory by less than a second with a hard sprint at the finish over the Hoyas. Dayton raced in a time of 6:32.5, edging out Georgetown's at the finish line with its 6:33.6 time. UD's V8+ crew included: Madison Doty (coxswain), Rosie Perez, Allison Martie, Kaleigh Barkaszi, Allie Rogers, Emma Tokar, Mary Willard, Erin Mohney and Kayla Contardi.
 
In the afternoon, George Washington swept UD in all four races.  In the 2V4+ race UD posted a time of 8:19.7. UD's boat consisted of: Gwen Bartot (coxswain), Alex Anain, Meghan Sullivan-Casey, Emily Griffin and Claire Hardy. 
 
Dayton's V4+ finished in 8:10.1, while the 2V8+ finished in 7:05.2.
 
In the Flyers' final race of the day, the Colonials edged the V8+ boat with a time of 6:32.8 and Dayton had a time of 6:39.4.
 
Dayton is back in action at SIRA in Oak Ridge, Tenn. April 18-19, 2015.
