Dayton's home opener will be on Saturday, September 19 against Duquesne at 1:00 p.m. ET. UD will close out non-conference play against a brand new opponent, Kennesaw State, on Saturday, September 26.
The Kennesaw State game is first night game of the season, the first-ever meeting between the Flyers and the Owls, and just the fourth-ever game in KSU history. Kennesaw has been building toward this season since announcing it would add football early in 2013. KSU is a football-only member of the Big South Conference. Kickoff is 6:00 p.m. ET.
Dayton will open play in the Pioneer Football League at Stetson on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The Flyers will play three of the next four at home. The PFL home opener will be against defending league champion San Diego at 1:00 p.m. ET on Oct. 10. After a trip to Valparaiso on Oct. 17, UD will play its second and final night game of the year, this time versus Butler On Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. ET. Dayton will finish October by taking on Jacksonville on Halloween at 1:00 p.m. ET. Jacksonville was 9-2 overall in 2014.
The Flyers will finish off the regular season at Morehead State on Nov. 7, at home on Senior Day against Marist on Nov. 14, and at Drake on Nov. 21.
Dayton was 8-3 in 2014, and finished tied for second in the Pioneer Football League with a 6-2 PFL record. The Flyers returns 14 starters (six offense, seven defense, one specialist) and 43 letterwinners in 2015.
