OAKRIDGE, Tenn.— The University of Dayton rowing had four boats race at the SIRA Regatta Sunday.

"As a team we made a lot of progress this weekend," said UD Head Coach Mike Wenker. "We dealt with the conditions well. The races were delayed by two hours. The conditions were perfect on the water except the fog made it very difficult to see.

"We had some injuries and each boat made nice adjustments," he added. "We are starting to put things together and really see good improvements across the board."
 
Dayton finished fourth in the V8+ Grand Final in a time of 6:39.746, just getting edged out by Jacksonville who posted a time of 6:38.546. Purdue was second in 6:36.794 and Kansas State won the event in 6:31.544.
UD's V8+ boat included: Madison Doty (coxswain), Allison Martie, Kaleigh Barkaszi, Allie Rogers, Emma Tokar, Mary Willard, Erin Mohney, Kayla Contardi and Grace Hagan.

UD's 2V8+ took third place in their final with a time of 7:03.421, beating Kansas State B by two seconds. Jacksonville was second in 6:54.96 and Kansas State A won in a time of 6:39.547.  Dayton's boat consisted of Patricia Santoni (coxswain), Brianne Hollandsworth, Bree Richards, Katy Speed, Rebecca McDonald, Rachel Hock, Alex Anain, Kristen Hackel and Sarah Byrd.

The Flyers took second place in the V4+ Petite Final in a time of 7:36.492 just missing first by four seconds behind Cincinnati. That boat was: Meghan Garriott (coxswain), Amanda Matney, Claire Hardy, Meghan Sullivan-Casey and Danielle Foust.

UD's N4+ took first place in its semifinal heat with a time of 8:20.723, beating out Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Miami and Davidson. That final race was cancelled due to weather. Dayton's boat: Gwen Bartot (coxswain), Anna Karnstein, Eden Williams, Emily Griffin, and Lindsey Fisher.
 
Dayton will be back in action at the Atlantic 10 Championships on May 2 in Pennsauken, N.J. on the Cooper River.
