Final Results (for events that were completed)
OXFORD, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's track and field team competed at the RedHawk Invitational on Saturday before the weather halted the event early in the afternoon.
Before the meet was cancelled, Dayton was able to have strong performances in the earlier field events.
In the hammer throw, senior
Aly Weeman recorded a mark of 54.74m and finished second overall. Freshman
Erin Reese followed in seventh with a throw of 50.57m. Senior
Miranda Nelson added an 11
th-place finish while freshman Jenni Rossi took 20
th.
Senior
Ashley DeMange finished third in the pole vault while freshmen
Hayley Clark and
Jessica Thornbury finished sixth and eighth respectively, both with personal records.
A pair of Flyers competed in the high jump as senior
Rebecca Maj took fifth and fellow senior
Katy Garcia took eighth.
The shot put was another strong event for UD with Reese taking first overall with a throw of 14.09m. Rossi finished sixth with a mark of 13.01m while Nelson took eighth and freshman
Sarah Sepanski rounded out the top 10. Reese and Sepanski had career bests as well.
Dayton was hoping to get a full competition in at the last meet before heading to conference next weekend, but lightning delayed the RedHawk Invitational before eventually cancelling it.
The Flyers will now prepare for the 2015 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships in Fairfax, Va. on May 2-3.
