DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team is hitting the east coast this weekend for back-to-back matches against Rhode Island and Fordham. Dayton will square off against Rhode Island Friday at 7 p.m. at the Rams' Keaney Gym in Kingston.

About Dayton
Dayton (16-1, 3-0 A-10) had only one match last week, a 3-0 win at Saint Louis on Saturday afternoon. The win extended the Flyers' streak to five-consecutive matches and UD also put together an 11-match winning streak to open the season. Dayton is led by junior Jessica Sloan who averages 4.00 kills/set (3rd A-10) and junior Amber Erhahon who swings at .441 (1st A-10, 6th NCAA) for 3.18 kills/set (5th A-10). Sophomore Margo Wolf is the team's leading passer with 5.21 digs/set (2nd A-10).

Scouting Rhode Island
Rhode Island (9-7, 4-0 A-10) has opened Atlantic 10 Conference play with four straight wins and is also heading into Friday's match with a five-match winning streak. The Rams are led by Audrey Castro with 3.56 kills/set (4th A-10) and Layne Self who swings at .397 (3rd A-10) and tallies a league-leading 1.35 blocks/set.

Series Stuff
There have been 40 meetings between Dayton and Rhode in a series that dates back to Dayton's first season in the Atlantic 10, 1995. The Flyers have recorded 30 wins against the Rams, including four in a row and 24 of the last 25 meetings.

RPI Rankings
The NCAA released its first Rating Percentage Index (RPI) on Monday, Oct. 3 and Dayton came in at 36 for 2016 according to NCAA.com. Rhode Island is currently ranked 160th.

• Tim Horsmon is in his eighth season overall, and third since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2016. His record at Dayton is 201-56 and his career win-loss mark sits at 377-220 in 18 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's second-winningest coach behind only R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last eight seasons (2009-2016), the Flyers have recorded a 96-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2015 and 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.

Last Time Out
In its only match of the week, Dayton picked up a 3-0 win at Saint Louis on Oct. 1. Junior Jessica Sloan led the Flyers with 15 kills while junior Jane Emmenecker set 37 assists for the match. Junior Amber Erhahon added 12 kills and sophomore Kendyll Brown led the UD block with five. As a team, Dayton recorded 47 kills to Saint Louis' 38.
