DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team is hitting the east coast this weekend for back-to-back matches against Rhode Island and Fordham. Dayton will square off against Rhode Island Friday at 7 p.m. at the Rams' Keaney Gym in Kingston.
About Dayton
Dayton (16-1, 3-0 A-10) had only one match last week, a 3-0 win at Saint Louis on Saturday afternoon. The win extended the Flyers' streak to five-consecutive matches and UD also put together an 11-match winning streak to open the season. Dayton is led by junior

Scouting Rhode Island
Rhode Island (9-7, 4-0 A-10) has opened Atlantic 10 Conference play with four straight wins and is also heading into Friday's match with a five-match winning streak. The Rams are led by Audrey Castro with 3.56 kills/set (4th A-10) and Layne Self who swings at .397 (3rd A-10) and tallies a league-leading 1.35 blocks/set.

There have been 40 meetings between Dayton and Rhode in a series that dates back to Dayton's first season in the Atlantic 10, 1995. The Flyers have recorded 30 wins against the Rams, including four in a row and 24 of the last 25 meetings.

The NCAA released its first Rating Percentage Index (RPI) on Monday, Oct. 3 and Dayton came in at 36 for 2016 according to NCAA.com. Rhode Island is currently ranked 160th.
