FORMER FLYER MALOTT EXCELS IN WNBA

DAYTON, Ohio – Former Dayton Women's Basketball player Ally Malott signed on with the Washington Mystics WNBA team back in 2015 and has had two successful seasons since then. She's played in a total of 47 games in the past two regular seasons, and played in two playoff games in 2015. The team ended the season in September with a 13-21 record, but they had two big wins over Minnesota Lynx, a team ranked first in the league. In 2015, the team had a 14-20 record, but they tied for fourth in the league.

Malott was a forward for the University of Dayton from 2011-2015. She had a career total of 563 field goals and a field goal percentage of 46.9%. She was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason First Team, A-10 First and All-Academic teams for two consecutive years, A-10 All-Championship Team, and the Albany All-Regional Team. During her senior year, Malott recorded a career high 30 points in a game, eight double doubles, scored double figures in 32 of 35 games, and surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career early on in the season. She was picked as the eighth overall selection in the 2015 WNBA, which is Dayton's first draft pick in program history.

Ally's success at Dayton has not stopped during her transition to the pros. During the 2016 season for the Mystics, Malott was in the top five of her team for free throw percentage (81.8%) and scored an average of 2.1 points per game. In the past two seasons, she's scored 128 points, 44 field goals, and had 49 rebounds. In 2015, she posted three double-digit games, including a season and career high of 13 points against Tulsa. She had the play of the game in the Mystics' faceoff against the Liberty in September of this year with an amazing three point shot from outside.

The WNBA season officially came to a close on October 16 when the playoffs ended. Preseason play will begin again in May, with regular season following a week or two after.
