NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly women's basketball awards on Monday and recognized University of Dayton senior
Saicha Grant-Allen as the A-10 Player of the Week
Grant-Allen earned Florida Sunshine Classic All-Tournament team honors after averaging a double-double in wins over RV Texas A&M and Old Dominion. The senior center recorded 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game over the Flyers 2-0 run in Florida.
Grant-Allen started the tournament off with 11 points, three blocks, two steals, and four rebounds in the win over the 8-2 Aggies, going up against Anriel Howard, who ranked second in the nation in rebounds. She followed that up with season-highs of 17 points and 16 rebounds in the victory over Old Dominion. Grant-Allen shot 42.9% from the floor last week and contributed on both ends of the floor. The pair of wins ended a losing skid for the Flyers and moved Dayton to 5-6 on the season.
She is the second Flyer to be recognized by the A-10 this season after freshman
Jayla Scaife was named A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week on Nov. 21.
Richmond freshman Jaide Hinds-Clarke earned Rookie of the Week accolades on Monday.
Grant-Allen and the Flyers return to action this weekend in Charlottseville, Va. as part of the Cavalier Classic, hosted by the University of Virginia.
