Box Score 2 RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Dayton softball team struggled on the road against Eastern Kentucky University on Tuesday afternoon, falling in both games of a double header by scores of 4-0 and 5-2 at Gertrude Hood Field.
Game One – EKU 4 Dayton 0Scoring BreakdownBottom 1st – Eastern Kentucky got on the board right away, taking advantage of two first inning Dayton errors to take a 2-0 lead.
Bottom 3rd – The error bug bit the Flyers again and the Colonels capitalized on the opportunity, plating two more runs to push their lead to 4-0.
Key Stats- All four of Eastern Kentucky's runs were unearned in the, as
Jessica Gilliam gave up two unearned runs in two innings and
Emily Froment surrendered two more in four innings of work.
- Froment gave up a leadoff double upon entering in the third inning and didn't relinquish another hit the rest of the game.

Krista Gustafson reached base all three times she came to the plate, walking once and reaching on an EKU error.

Lisa Tassi and give Dayton a 2-0 lead.
Bottom 3rd – Eastern Kentucky plated its first earned runs of the day thanks to a one out double that plated a pair and tied the score 2-2.
Bottom 4th – Errors proved costly once again for the Flyers, as a key error led to two more Colonels runs and gave the hosts a 4-2 lead.
Bottom 5th – Dayton's second error of the game and fifth of the day led to the final run of the game for Eastern Kentucky, bringing the score to its final of 5-2.
Key Stats- Novak was a pest on the base paths for the Flyers, going 1-for-2 with a walk, scoring a run and stealing a base as well.
- Three of the four hits for Dayton came from the top three hitters in the order, who all happen to be freshman.
- Of the nine runs allowed on the day, only two were earned.
UP NEXTDayton travels to Louisville, Ky. to take part in the Louisville Softball Classic, March 11-13. The opponents for the weekend include Louisville, #2 Michigan, Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky. UD's weekend opens with a Friday afternoon bout against Louisville at 4:30 p.m.
