DAYTON FOOTBALL TRAVELS TO DUQUESNE SATURDAY

Flyers First Road Game Of Year Against 2016 NEC Champs

DAYTON – The University of Dayton football team takes to the road for the first time this season, traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the Duquesne Dukes.  Game time at Rooney Field is 12 Noon ET.

The game features two teams who participated in last year's FCS playoffs – Dayton, who represented the Pioneer Football League and Duquesne, who won the Northeast Conference.

Last week, Dayton improved to 2-0 with a 13-0 win over Robert Morris.  Freshman wideout Ryan Skibinski caught 5 passes for 71 yards.  Six Flyers had at least four tackles.  Safety David Leisring had 4 (3 solo) and intercepted a pass. End Mike Gray had 4 hits, 2 sacks, 2.5 TFL and 2 QBH and was named the PFL Defensive Player of the Week.

STREAKING
UD has not been shut out in a school-record 445 straight games, the best such active string in all of college football. The last team to shut out the Flyers was Marshall, 9-0, on Oct. 16, 1976. That is also the all-time FCS record.

TUCKER'S TOUCHES
• Despite starting only five games after Connor Kacsor's career-ending injury last year, Tucker Yinger led UD in rushing yardage (731 yards) and yards per carry (6.1).
• He was also fourth in the PFL and the only freshman in the top 10.
• He had nine plays (six runs, three passes) of more than 25 yards.
• He had 122 yards on 19 carries against Jacksonville.  He gained 103 yards on 11 attempts in the third quarter.
• Yinger was held out of the Robert Morris game due to injury, but is back in the lineup this week.

GOOD HANDS PEOPLE
• The Flyers return three of their top four receivers from a year ago.  Cory Stuart (now graduated), Tyler Tumpane and Jack Euritt were 1-2-3 in receiving for UD last season.
• Stuart had 52 catches for a 10.4 yards per catch average, Tumpane was right behind with 48 for 7.8 and Euritt had 34 for 13.9.
• Ian Palin was fourth with 14 for 7.6.
• It is interesting to note that running back Tucker Yinger had the highest per-catch average of receivers with more than two reception.
• Yinger's 16.3 average was one of nine Flyers who averaged more than 10.0.

TAG...
• Senior wideout Jack Euritt led UD with five catches for a career-high 93 yards and the season's first TD in the CSU win.
• He has a catch in 14 straight games.
• Euritt leads the team in receptions (8, tied).

UP NEXT
• The Flyers remain on the road to open up PFL play at San Diego.  Game time is 7 p.m. ET.
• UD and the Toreros tied for the PFL title last season.
• In this year's preseason poll, USD edged Dayton by one voting point to be the predicted champ, although the Flyers had one more first-place vote than San Diego.
• Dayton's next home game is Saturday, Oct. 1 against Drake.
