#UDVB TO HOST FLYER CLASSIC FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

Dayton to Square Off Against Loyola Marymount Friday Night at Frericks Center

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team will host its annual Flyer Classic Friday and Saturday at Frericks Center. Dayton will square off against Loyola Marymount on Friday and will play two matched Saturday against Youngstown State followed by Southern Illinois. Admission to the two-day event is free.

About Dayton
Dayton has started off 2016 with 11-consecutive victories, the program's best start since 2007. The Flyers had an unusual mid-week match at IUPUI on Tuesday, defeating the Jaguars in straight sets. UD is led by junior Jessica Sloan with 4.00 kills/set (3rd A-10) and 0.34 aces/set (8th A-10) while junior Amber Erhahon swings at .487 (1st A-10) and averages 3.34 kills/set (9th A-10). Defensively, sophomore Margo Wolf passes a team-best 5.47 digs/set (1st A-10) and Erhahon is the team's leading blocker with 0.95 per set.

Scouting Loyola Marymount
The Lions recently dropped out of the top 25 and are currently receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches' Poll. The Lions posted back-to-back straight-set wins over the Harvard Crimson and the Duke Blue Devils at the LMU/Long Beach Dual. LMU is led by Sarah Sponcil with 3.94 kills/set while Kriste Castellanos passes 3.52 digs/set.

Series Stuff
Loyola Marymount holds a 3-0 lead in the all-time series between the Flyers and the Lions. The series dates back to 1990 and the two squads last met on Nov. 25, 2006 as LMU claimed a 3-0 win in Los Angeles.

RPI Rankings
At the end of the 2015 season, Dayton held a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) ranking of 22 according to ncaa.com. Loyola Marymount finished just ahead of Dayton last season at 19 in the RPI.

Flyer Facts
• Tim Horsmon is in his eighth season overall, and third since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2016. His record at Dayton is 196-55 and his career win-loss mark sits at 372-219 in 18 seasons as a head coach.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 12 times (2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record 10 times (2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and made their 11th NCAA appearance in program history in 2015.
• Over the last seven seasons (2009-2015), the Flyers have recorded a 93-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2015 and 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton returns the 2015 Atlantic 10 Setter of the Year in junior Jane Emmenecker, A-10 First Team member Amber Erhahon, A-10 All-Rookie Team member Margo Wolf and three-time A-10 Coach of the Year Tim Horsmon.
• The Flyers finished the 2015 season with a 27-6 overall record and a 14-0 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2015 was the program's 37th winning season.

Last Time Out
Dayton traveled to Indianapolis on Tuesday for a mid-week match-up against IUPUI. The Flyers claimed a 3-0 win over the Jaguars in The Jungle on IUPUI's campus. Junior Jane Emmenecker posted the team's only double-double for the match with 41 assists and 15 digs. Junior Amber Erhahon and sophomore Lauren Bruns each tallied 12 kills on the night while sophomore Margo Wolf was the team's leading passer with 19 digs.

13th to 1,000
With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,066-563 (.654) over 47 seasons (1970).

Flyers Sweep A-10 Weekly Awards
Junior Jessica Sloan, sophomore Margo Wolf and freshman Jamie Peterson were honored by the Atlantic 10 as Dayton swept the league's weekly awards on Sept. 12. Sloan was named A-10 Player of the Week, Wolf A-10 Defensive Player of the Week and Peterson A-10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. All awards, presented by Come Ready Nutrition, were for matches played Sept. 5-11.

Hausfeld Court
Former Flyer Kacie Hausfeld passed away tragically in an airplane crash during her time as a Dayton Flyer. In her memory, her family made a substantial contribution to the Dayton volleyball program. That donation enabled the program to renovate Frericks Center, adding a new public address and sound system, new seating on the event level, new scoreboards and video boards and the playing surface was named "Hausfeld Court" among many other improvements to the facility.

UD Picked First in 2016 A-10 Preseason Poll
Dayton has been chosen to finish in first place in the Atlantic 10 for 2016. The Flyers, winners of six of the last seven A-10 titles, tallied 83 points in voting among the league's head coaches (including six of 10 first-place votes). Saint Louis tied Dayton with 83 points, including three first-place votes.

A-10 Player of the Week for Erhahon (Again)
For the second-consecutive week Dayton junior Amber Erhahon was named the Atlantic Player of the Week on Tuesday (9/6) as announced by the conference office. Erhahon led the Flyers to a 4-0 week with a .430 hitting percentage and 0.88 blocks per set. She also scored 3.66 points per set while averaging 3.00 kills per set, including her career-high 20 kills against Miami (Ohio) on Aug. 30.
