MIAMI INVITATIONAL UP NEXT FOR #UDSB

Dayton to Play Detroit, Fort Wayne and host Miami (Ohio)

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball is set to take part in the Miami (Ohio) Invitational presented by Best Western – Sycamore Inn March 18-19 in Oxford, Ohio. The Flyers will kick off the weekend's action Saturday with an 11 a.m. matchup against the Detroit Titans at the RedHawks' Miami Softball Diamond.

About Dayton
Dayton (9-10) had its midweek doubleheader at Morehead State canceled on Wednesday due to winter weather conditions with no plans of rescheduling the games. The Flyers are coming off a 1-3 outing at Kentucky's John Cropp Classic, including a tough 1-0 loss to the 19th-ranked Wildcats, March 9-10. UD is led offensively by senior Gabrielle Snyder with a .452 average (2nd A-10), a team-high 28 hits (t-3rd A-10), including six doubles (t-3rd A-10), and she has scored a team-best 14 runs. In the circle, reigning A-10 Pitcher of the Year junior Manda Cash (6-4) is the Flyers' ace with a league-best 69 strikeouts and holds a 2.33 ERA. As a team, Dayton leads the A-10 with 120 pitching strikeouts and ranks third in hits (144), doubles (27) and walks (44).

Scouting Detroit
Detroit (3-16) is currently suffering through a 13-game losing streak after spending the first week in March out west. The Titans went 0-5 at the San Diego Classic and then played four more games with area teams before heading back to the Midwest. Jordan Manno has tallied a team-high 17 hits for Detroit while Grace Schmeiser carries the team's best average at .308. Liz Murphy (3-7) has put in 68.1 innings of work in the circle for Detroit and holds a 3.28 ERA.

Scouting Fort Wayne
Fort Wayne (5-19) is heading into this weekend's tournament with back-to-back wins over Providence and Saint Joseph's at the Under Armour Showcase in Clearwater, Fla., this past weekend. Lauren Watson has the team's best average at .333 and has tallied a team-high 26 hits as one of three Mastodons that have started all 24 games this season. Bailey Benefiel holds the team's low ERA at 3.95 over 62.0 innings of work in the circle. She has tallied a team-high 39 strikesouts so far this season.

There's Your Double
Senior Gabby Snyder is an ace in the circle but she also carries a big bat. After batting her third double on the season against Northern Kentucky on Feb. 17, Snyder set a new Dayton career doubles record, a mark previously held by former Flyer Kathleen Maloof - sister of current Flyer Madi Maloof. Snyder now has 47 career doubles.

Speaking of the Record Book
Junior Manda Cash has already made her mark on the Dayton record book and continues to climb the rankings. Her career ERA of 1.60 ranks second all-time in program history, behind only former Flyer Sara Hatcher (1.44, 1997-2000). Cash has also tallied 419 career strikeouts which ranks third, also behind Hatcher (435).
