DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is heading north Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader at Akron. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Akron's Lee R. Jackson Field.

About Dayton
Dayton (23-18, 10-4 A-10) recorded its second-consecutive Atlantic 10 series sweep this past weekend at La Salle and has moved into third place in Atlantic 10 standings behind Saint Joseph's and Massachusetts. The Flyers are led offensively by senior Gabrielle Snyder with a .418 average (1st A-10, 41st NCAA), 56 hits (1st A-10, 29th NCAA), 32 runs scored and 12 doubles (t-2nd A-10). In the circle, junior lefty Manda Cash (13-8) holds the team-low ERA at 2.34 and she leads the league with 155 strikeouts (26th NCAA).

Scouting Akron
Akron (19-22, 8-7 MAC) is coming off a 2-1 conference series win over Ohio this past weekend and the Zips have won four of their last five games. Offensively, UA is led by Ashley Sims with a .393 average to go with a team-best 46 hits and 29 runs scored. Lexie Handley (16-13) is the Zips' top hurler with a team-low 2.30 ERA over 176.1 innings pitched to go with 156 strikeouts to 61 walks.

Series Stuff
Dayton and Akron have previously met 27 times in the all-time series between the intra-state rivals with the Zips holding a slim 14-13 margin. The two last met on March 20, 2016 in Dayton as the Flyers picked up two wins, 5-0 and 1-0.

RPI Rankings
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) that includes games through April 16, Dayton came in at 175 according to NCAA.com - up 18 spots from last week. Akron comes in at 210.

She's A Hit Machine
With 200 career hits, senior Gabby Snyder now owns the Dayton all-time career hits record. Additionally, after batting her third double of the season against Northern Kentucky on Feb. 17, Snyder set a new Dayton career doubles record and she now has 53 career doubles.

Speaking of the Record Book
Junior Manda Cash has already made her mark on the Dayton record book and continues to climb the rankings. Her career ERA of 1.73 ranks third all-time in program history. Additionally, Cash has tallied 505 career strikeouts which ranks second, behind only former Flyer Kayla English (2012-15) who holds the record with 564.

She's a Quick One
With 17 stolen bases on the season, senior Hannah DeSalvo has already surpassed her career total from the last three years. Her 27 career stolen bases ranks her sixth all-time. DeSalvo has also been hit by a pitch 13 times this season (2nd A-10), setting a new Dayton single-season record.

Dayton head coach Cara LaPlaca tallied her 233rd career win at UD on Saturday at La Salle, surpassing former Flyer head coach Jody Eickemeyer as Dayton's all-time winningest coach.
