RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Dayton volleyball team traveled to Richmond, Virginia, Thursday ahead of its Friday night match against VCU. The Flyers and Rams are scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. at VCU's Siegel Center.
About Dayton
Dayton (17-6, 8-1 A-10) split its matches last week, dropping a tough 3-2 decision to Cincinnati on Wednesday but righted the ship with a three-set Atlantic 10 sweep of visiting Saint Louis on Friday. As a team, the Flyers rank first in the A-10 with 14.11 kills/set (16th NCAA), a .280 hitting percentage (11th NCAA) and 12.98 assists/set while the team's 2.26 blocks/set ranks second in the league. Scouting VCU
VCU (14-7, 9-0 A-10) is currently enjoying a 10-match winning streak heading into Friday's contest and the Rams have not dropped an Atlantic 10 match this season. VCU leads the A-10 with 2.97 team blocks/set (4th NCAA) and the Rams serve up a conference-leading 1.48 aces/set. At the net, Jasmin Sneed leads all of Division I with 1.68 blocks/set and her .376 hitting percentage is good for second in the league.
Series Stuff
Dayton and VCU have squared off 14 times in a series that dates back to 2010. The Flyers hold a 9-5 margin over the Rams but VCU has won the last three meetings between the two squads, including a 3-1 victory in Dayton on Sept. 30.
