Wednesday Marked The Eighth Time That The Flyers Have Shutout Their Opponent This Season

Box Score Richmond, Ky. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team swept Eastern Kentucky University by a score of 4-0 on Wednesday, marking the eighth time this season that the Flyers have shut out their opponent in dual match play. The win improves Dayton's record to 16-5 overall this season with just one regular season match remaining, an April 22 match-up against the University of Miami down in Florida.

Simon Jayaram and Will Harper started things off in a positive direction for the Flyers with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles, while Theo Jener and Jordan Benjamin finished shortly afterwards to clinch the opening point of the match with a 6-4 win on court two.

After sitting out doubles competition, sophomore Steven Karl came out of the gates with fiery play at No. 5 singles, extending Dayton's lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set victory. Senior Carsten Fisher, who was just named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week earlier in the day, also won his match in straight sets by a 6-4, 6-2 margin. Junior Lorenzo Rollhauser dealt the finishing blow to Eastern Kentucky with a match-clinching 6-4, 6-4 win on court six.
