BRONX, N.Y. - The University of Dayton softball team is set to take on George Washington in the first round of action at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship. The third-seeded Flyers and sixth-seeded Colonials will get underway at approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bahoshy Field, home of the Fordham Rams.

This is Dayton's 10th overall and sixth-straight appearance in the A-10 Championship.

Scouting George Washington
George Washington (32-19, 12-11 A-10) comes into the A-10 Championship as the number-six seeded team. The Colonials are coming off a 2-1 weekend in St. Louis against the SLU Billikens. GW's offensive is paced by Jenna Cone with a .390 average (2nd A-10) to go with 57 hits (5th A-10), 16 doubles (2nd A-10) and 12 home runs (6th A-10). The Colonials' pitching corps is led by Sarah Costlow with a 3.16 ERA (13th A-10) while Sierra Lange had tallied 105 strikeouts (6th A-10).
Series Stuff
There have been 32 meetings between Dayton and George Washington, including a 2-1 series win for the Flyers earlier this year in Dayton. UD has won eight of the last nine match-ups. The two last squared off in the A-10 Championship in 2013 when George Washington defeated Dayton, 2-1.
