Men's Soccer Hosts GW For Senior Day Saturday

Nine Seniors Will Be Recognized Before The Regular Season Finale

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team hosts George Washington on Saturday for the final game of the season at Baujan Field at 7 p.m.

Prior to the game, the nine Dayton seniors will be recognized for their contributions to the program. The seniors are Jacob Degler, Dennis Ntsin, Cole Watkins, Laurel Aug, Daniel Dos Santos, Rok Taneski, David Lianes, Federico Barrios, and Victor Olorunfemi.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers are one of the hottest teams in the Atlantic 10 right now, winning five straight games and going 7-1 at home. UD is 10-7 on the year and 5-2 in A-10 play.

Head coach Dennis Currier is in his 15th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 149 victories, the most in UD history. He leads a veteran squad this season with seven seniors and 10 returning starters.

Overall, Dayton ranks seventh in the nation in assists and eighth in goals, all which lead the A-10. The Flyers have the most prolific offense in the conference with 2.12 goals per game and giving up just 1.24 goals per game.

The Flyers are led by reigning A-10 Offensvive Player of the Week junior Jonas Fjeldberg, who has ten goals and nine assists on the season. He ranks twentieth in points while having the second-most shots on goal each game. A-10 Rookie of the Week Toluwalase Oladeinbo has eight goals as well. Goalkeeper Federico Barrios has six shutouts and 61 saves in 16 starts.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
GEORGE WASHINGTON

George Washington has struggled this season, going 5-10-1 overall and winning just twice in its last five games. The Colonials are 3-4 in A-10 games and 3-4 at home this year. Head coach Craig Jones is in his 8th season at GW.

As a team, the Colonials are averaging .80 goals each contest and allowing 1.27 to opposing squads. However, outshooting opponents 13.3 to 10.9.

The Colonials are led by Max Holdsworth with three goals and three assists while Sandro Weber has three goals as well. Liam Emson has chipped in two goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Justin Grady has 26 saves and three shutouts.

THE SERIES
Dayton and GW have played 18 times with the Flyers winning 8 of those contests. In 2017, UD lost 0-2 at George Washington.

LAST OUTING
Dayton earned its fifth-straight win and third road victory with a 2-1 decision over Saint Joes. Kingsford scored a penatlty kick and Fjeldburg added a goal as well.

George Washington suffered a 2-0 defeat at VCU Saturday.

DAYTON PICKED TO FINISH 4TH
The Atlantic 10 Conference released its preseason poll and picked the Flyers to finish fourth with 121 points. Dayton was predicted to finish behind favorites VCU (159), Saint Louis (146), and Rhode Island (142).

UP NEXT
Dayton has a break during the week before entering Atlantic 10 tournament play.  The quarterfinals will be played on Nov. 9 and Nov. 10 with the location TBA.
