CHARLESTON, S.C. – University of Dayton quarterback
Jack Cook is this week's College Football Performance Awards FCS Player of the Week. Â Cook was recognized with this national award after his record-setting effort in Dayton's 56-28 win over Jacksonville.
Cook was 13 of 16 passing for 198 yards and a school-record six touchdowns. Â His passer efficiency rating was a remarkable 308.95 (roughly double what a normal "solid" rating would be). Â Both the rating and touchdowns are the second-most this season in FCS football.
For the season, Cook is 66 of 98 passing (.673) for 906 yards, with 13 touchdowns against just two interceptions. Â He leads the Pioneer Football League and is third nationally in passing rating (184.7). Â Cook is also top three in the PFL in completion percentage, completions per game, passing TD's passing yards per game, point's responsible, total offense and yards per completion.
He is also the active career FCS passing efficiency leader (163.06).
Dayton is 3-1 on the season, and 1-0 in the PFL. Â The Flyers travel to Valparaiso this Saturday, where they will see a familiar face on the opposite sideline. Â The Crusader's new coach is Landon Fox, who spent 13 seasons on the UD coaching staff, the last 11 as the Dayton defensive coordinator. Â Saturday's kickoff is at 2 p.m. ET.
