LEXINGTON, Ky. - University of Dayton volleyball sophomore
Jamie Peterson has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Midwest Region Player of the Year and to the All-Midwest Region Team as announced Tuesday, Dec. 10. This is the second-consecutive year the Flyers have earned the region's Player of the Year award.
Peterson finished 2019 averaging 4.58 kills/set (1st A-10, 19th NCAA), 5.41 points/set (1st A-10, 10th NCAA) and 0.39 aces/set (3rd A-10, 57th NCAA). The 2019 A-10 Player of the Year earned A-10 Player of the Week honors seven times for her efforts and posted 14 double-doubles this season.
In 2018,
Lauren Bruns was named the Midwest Region Player of the Year. Previously in the Northeast Region, Dayton's Faye Barhorst was named the Northeast Region Rookie of the Year in 2003.
Peterson will now be considered for AVCA All-America honors which will be announced Dec. 17.
