Softball Returns to Atlantic 10 Play With Three Games At La Salle

Flyers Will Play Explorers April 13-14

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is traveling to Philadelphia this weekend for a three-game Atlantic 10 set at La Salle April 13-14. The games will be played at La Salle's West Campus Softball Field and admission is free.

About Dayton
Dayton (19-19, 6-3 A-10) split its midweek doubleheader at crosstown foe Wright State Wednesday, claiming the first game 8-2 and dropping the nightcap 3-0. Senior Lisa Tassi carries the team's best batting average (.386, 8th A-10) and has batted a team-high 44 hits (5th A-10) while senior Kyle Davidson has stolen a team-best 19 bases (1st A-10). In the circle for the Flyers, senior Jessica Gilliam (8-7) holds the team's low ERA of 3.19 (8th A-10) and has recorded 71 strikeouts (5th A-10).

Scouting the Explorers
La Salle (8-23, 1-8 A-10) also split its Wednesday doubleheader, dropping an extra-inning 6-5 decision to Drexel before winning the nightcap, 13-8, on its home field. The win broke up the Explorers' four-game losing streak. La Salle is led offensively by Emma Schweigert with a .322 average and 29 hits. Cailey Joyce (5-9) has tallied a team-high 58 strikeouts (t-7th A-10) while Morgan Orlowski (3-12) carries the team's low ERA 5.25.

Series Stuff
Dayton and La Salle have previously met 56 times in a series that dates back to 1993. The Flyers hold a 42-14 lead over the Explorers and UD has won the last 14 match-ups between the two teams. Last season, Dayton sweep the three-game Atlantic 10 series at home, 5-2, 3-2 and 10-2 (5).

RPI Rankings
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2019 season posted on April 7, Dayton came in at 196 according to NCAA.com. Wright State was ranked 292.

Catch Me If You Can
As a team, Dayton is 68-for-84 in stolen bases on the season - the 68 stolen bases ranks first in the Atlantic 10 and has already surpassed last season's total of 63. The Flyers' 1.79 SB/game ranks 25th nationally. Senior Kyle Davidson leads the Flyers on the base paths with 19 stolen bases (1st A-10) on the season. Senior Lisa Tassi has stolen 15 bases (3rd A-10) while sophomore Briley Sidor has collected eight stolen bases (t-11 A-10). With her 41 career stolen bases, Davidson ranks fifth all-time in the Dayton record book.

Sophomore Abby Ehrenborg leads the team and ranks tied for second in the A-10 with 35 RBI this season. Ehrenborg has posted seven multiple-RBI games in 2019 including five RBI against Kennesaw State on Feb. 16 at the Chattanooga Classic. Ehrenborg was named to the All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie Team following her freshman season for her play primarily as designated player.

Cacini Earns Second A-10 Rookie of the Week Nod
Freshman infielder Alyssa Cacini wqas named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday, April 8, her secondly weekly honor of the season. As Dayton's everyday shortstop, Cacini went 5-for-12 (.417) at the plate over five starts for the Flyers. She was a perfect 3-for-3, including a home run, in Dayton's come-from-behind 6-5 win over Morehead State Wednesday. In UD's first game at Fordham Saturday, Cacini knocked out her third home run of the season and followed that by drawing four walks in the nightcap against the Rams. For the week, she tallied seven putouts and 10 assists while posting a .562 on-base percentage and a .917 slugging percentage.

Senior Kyle Davidson has made 151 consecutive appearances in the Flyers' starting lineup. During her career at UD, Davidson has started in 173 of the 182 games she has played.
