LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Dayton track and field team opened up the 2020 season at the University of Kentucky Jim Green Invitational, a two-day meet held at the Nutter Fieldhouse Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10-11.
 
Highlights

• Redshirt senior Emily Borchers won the 3000m run in a PR time of 9:45.73. That mark is third-best all-time at UD.
• Junior Corey Rinella had a PR in the long jump with her mark of 5.41m which is fourth-best all-time at Dayton.
• Junior Taylor Flight had PRs in the weight throw (18.05m) and shot put (13.26m) to finish eighth and 10th, respectively, in those events.
• The Flyers had 27 PRs at the meet.

"We had a very strong opener this weekend at Kentucky. The throws group really showed up as a unit, lead by Taylor Flight in the weight and the shot. Our sprint crew did a great job of competing near their personal best marks. Our distance crew also had a solid outing with several personal bests and Emily Borchers with an individual title in the 3000m. All in all it was a solid outing that we can build on."
