Box Score MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's tennis team fell 4-3 to visiting Toledo Friday night in UD's home opener at the South Regency Tennis Center.

Dayton picked up the doubles point as No. 2 doubles Steven Karl and Georgi Mavrodiev won 6-1 for the Flyers and No. 3 doubles Joe DeMarco and Will Harper won 6-2.

The Rockets took a point at No. 1 singles to tie it up, and then took a 2-1 lead after securing No. 4 singles as well.

Mavrodiev evened up the score by taking down Max Skaer 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 6 singles spot.

Toledo regained the lead with a battle at No. 5 singles. Filip Zupancic won the first set 6-3 over Will Harper and edged him 7-6 to take the point.

The match was decided at No. 3 singles. Dayton's Matt DeMarco won the first set 6-3 but fell 7-5, 6-4.

Karl won his match at No. 2 singles, fighting back after falling 6-2 in the first set only to bounce back and win 6-3, 7-6.

The Flyers are back in action Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Kentucky.
